You Get The Kid You Deserve
I just saw this 12 or 13 year-old kid sitting in a minivan in a Staples parking lot. He was cherubic looking and wearing a yarmulke. His mother came out the store and he yelped in his high pitched voice, ” Get in the fucking van!”
And all the lady did was say to me, “excuse me”. I wasn’t offended by the swear. I was offended by her. She didn’t look mad or anything. I was expecting her to immediately murder or at the very least severely maim this kid. But, no way. She just got in the vehicle and talked to him while he wore a shit eating grin.
Barring having Tourette’s syndrome there was no good reason for this kid to get out of that alive. I’m sure this woman is doing the best she can with what she knows. And I can see how beating your kid in public might come off as “bad”. But, I wouldn’t have called the police if she had done it. I’d probably give her a handshake afterwards.
A movie about a lesbian relationship and all I took away from it was how hot Mark Ruffalo was in it.
